Eleanor Havsteen-Franklin
The AA2A scheme has given me the opportunity to explore personal symbols arising from universal themes of mortality and immortality; the relationship to the body and the sacred. An aspect of this work has been the religious influences drawn upon by artists such as Anthony Gormley and William Blake. I have worked with mono printing, screen printing and etching in a way that allows the processes to inform one another. The image finds its shape through the print making processes rather than as an immaculate preconception. Hence the final expression is an aesthetic embodiment of the symbolic and a narrative in the working process.
Eleanor's AA2A story was selected for our digital publication 'Time and Space - Celebrating 10 years of AA2A schemes'.
