Rose Bamford

Through the experience of AA2A I have created a collection of pieces that work together as a group or as individual objects that can be used. This opportunity has enabled me to explore working with metal on a larger scale and familiarise myself with silversmithing techniques, I have also had the chance to experiment with introducing enamelling into my work.

Over the last few months I have made a series of hand forged copper bowls which I have enamelled on the inside; exploring the relationship between the hard highly reflective surface of the glass enamel and the softer matt black of the oxidised copper. Restricting myself to one colour of enamel and a simple bowl form I focused on the small differences that can be achieved by varying the thickness of the enamel and the length of time it is fired for. I have also been interested in relationship of the pieces to each other and how they work as a group. My intention is to continue with this exploration creating a larger body of work along these themes.
