Evaluation statistics 2008/09

With a return rate of 94% AA2A Artists evaluation forms give accurate and detailed information which is collated into spreadsheets and fed back to colleges to improve their schemes.  Below are some of the national statistics for AA2A.

  • Artists travel an average of 23 miles to their AA2A college
  • 59% of artists were 30 - 50 years old, 20% were younger and 21% were older
  • 76% of AA2A artists are female and 24% are male
  • 8% had no qualification in art or design
  • 15% had a disability
  • 15% were from a non UK background
  • 39% saw an advert in a-n or CRAFTS magazine, 35% received a personal recommendation, 14% saw this website or received our email circular, and 13% heard about AA2A through contact with/from the College
  • Artists used an average of 111 hours access time (of the minimum 100 hours offered)
  • 44% had previously been students at their AA2A college
  • 62% used facilities or equipment that was new to them
  • 91% used at least one of the support areas offered, (library, lectures, life room, IT, etc)
  • 76% of Artists said that AA2A had 'very much' helped them achieve a valuable outcome to their project
  • Artists rated the importance of AA2A nationally at 9 out of 10 & their colleges hosting of AA2A at 8
  • 88% of artists said they would definitely recommend AA2A to others
  • The AA2A schemes rated highest last year, by their artists were University of Central Lancashire and the University of Cumbria, while the most improved scheme in one year was the University of Sunderland
  • The highest rated of the 10 new schemes last year were Nottingham Trent University and Birmingham City University
