Employability talks from artists and designer-makers and AA2A Self-employment talks - we've released three further video talks for students at current AA2A Host unis and colleges. These should now be available to download from host uni or college VLE e.g. Blackboard:
- The forth in our series of five employability themed talks, 'Managing a portfolio career' featuring Pamela Schilderman, Laura Plant and Tod Jones talking about balancing part-time work with developing their own practice, setting up as self-employed and managing their finances. They also reflect on the need for resilience.
- The fifth in our series of five employability themed talks, 'Copyright and licensing' featuring creatives Celia Smith, Trina Dalziel and Mike Chavez-Dawson are joined by a DACS representative to talk about copyright and licensing. They discuss the importance of negotiating the right contract to ensure you protect your intellectual property and how to make money by licensing the reproduction of your work.
- The third in our series of three 'Making it out there' talks on self-employment entitled, 'Registration, tax, NI and keeping records' covers:- Registering as self-employed and the legal requirements - Tax, Personal allowances, NI and pensions - Keeping records, dealing with HMRC and paying tax
Student web profiles - this year four students from each of our current host uni and colleges have the opportunity to have web profiles on our website. If you're a student at a current AA2A uni or college and you'd like a web profile, do speak to a uni staff member listed on your AA2A college page
Specialist self-employment seminars - on the 2nd February we hosted a virtual seminar for students and graduates themed around 'Copyright and licensing'. Our thanks to past AA2A artist Denise Swanson who lent her expertise and experience to the discussions.
