I am an artist printmaker. My work spans traditional and contemporary processes, from linocut and etching to collagraph and monotype, and I create both 2D work and 3D print-based installations. I am interested in the landscapes we shape and our complex interrelationship with the world around us. I draw on wild places, like moorlands and coastlines, as well as the vestiges of human impact over time, such as in post-industrial sites. These are fragile and decaying locations, but also places of renewal. Through landscape, I explore ideas of damage and repair, fragmentation, the superficial and the hidden, the external and internal. I love to experiment and embrace gaps, edges, layers and chance.
Returning to printmaking later in life, I have just completed an MA at Middlesex University. In this residency, I plan to develop further the installation side of my practice, bringing together traditional print processes with digital technology, such as laser cutting, to take forward my interest in fragile structures. I love to learn and to share knowledge and I hope to continue to do this with the help of an AA2A residency, whilst connecting with a wider learning community through printmaking.
