This set of images emerged from experiments with the lines, contours and patterns of the Castleford footbridge, river and weir. The ‘s’ shape of the bridge, the curves of the decking, the rectangles of the sluice guard rails, the repeating pattern on the sides of the contoured seating were drawn, combined and filled with blocks of primary colour to form simple compositions. Sections from the original photographs and previous experiments were then selected and pasted in. The only Photoshop filter used is the Texturizer. All other adjustments are made individually using an assortment of tools, image adjustment and layer options. This is a very labour-intensive process of generating many combinations before selecting and refining the most effective.
