The Palestinian Paintings by Zohar

Preview event at The Chester Art Centre and later exhibited at CASC space in Kingsway.

I attended the opening of this incredible exhibition and later had the opportunity to study again, Zohars "Palestinian Paintings" when they were shown at our own Kingsway Campus. The collection was painted over the last three years, as a reaction to the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza, by Zohar who is a classically trained figurative painter.

The artist was present and approachable at the preview event and hoped to use his work to raise awareness of the issue of Palestinian suffering, confiscation of land and destruction of life in Israel where he grew up.

The paintings are provocative and achingly beautiful, in an almost hyper-real style, they highlight the fragility of human life set against the backdrop of the machines and aftermath of war.
