- Free access to high-quality equipment and facilities.
- Access to lecture programmes, libraries etc. (access varies)
- Being part of an academic/art school community with opportunities to network with other artists, students, staff, collaboration with other departments/schools, invitation to events, private views etc (varies at different hosts)
- Opportunity to attend AA2A free online employability seminars, attend AA2A in-person employability talks (when available) and access career development resources
- Access to our Artist Support Fund to help with travel, childcare and materials costs (eligibility criteria apply)
- Part of a unique national residency scheme involving at least 10 universities/colleges and 50 artists per year which aims to support inclusivity and diversity
- Exposure on AA2As social media platforms as we share artists’ posts
- Some hosts offer exhibition opportunities and/or paid work
Key findings from our 2023/24 artist evaluation form (90% response rate):
- 100% of residents would recommend AA2A to other artists
- Residents gave an average score of 9.2 out of 10 when asked, “How important can AA2A be to an artist’s career development?”
- Residents gave their host’s facilities an average rating of 4.5 out 5
- Residents gave an average score of 9.3 out of 10 when asked, “How important is AA2A as a national project?”
