Alexandra Murphy is an active photographic practice-researcher and educator, currently residing in Cambridgeshire, England and is Course Leader of Photography at Buckinghamshire New University. Alexandra was awarded her PhD from Middlesex University in 2022, for her practice-led research project, An Inert State: Tracing a Double-defiance of Death via Photographic Poiesis. Current practice-research investigates the preservational properties and expressions of the photograph via haptic and tactile methods and she has a deep interest in cultural theories such as metapsychology, museology, ecology and anthrozoology. Her solo exhibition, Animal Afterlives, was displayed in the Museum of Zoology, Cambridge (2021-22), presenting five different projects produced from over a decade of research.
