AA2A Resident Artist

Amanda Steer

Schemes:

Amanda Steer is a Cheltenham-based illustrator/printmaker whose practice bridges research, design, and community-led storytelling. She holds a Masters in Illustration from the University of Gloucestershire (2023), where her final project engaged Cleeve Common through walks and dialogues with residents, ornithologists, conservationists, archaeologists, rangers, and volunteers. These exchanges inspired lino prints, an artist’s book, and infographic boards designed to foster connection and care for the landscape.

Amanda’s work continues to use visual storytelling as a tool for environmental engagement. She continues to work on infographic boards with Cotswolds National Landscape, facilitates nature journalling workshops and works with institutions like the University of Gloucestershire’s Countryside and Community Research Institute (CCRI) and the National Innovation Centre for Rural Enterprise (NICRE), based at Newcastle University, visualising climate-focused Climathon events. Rooted in the Cotswolds, her practice remains deeply informed by local ecology and communities, merging art with advocacy to inspire connection to place. A member of ‘Walking the Land’ and Gloucestershire Print Co-operative since 2023.
