Elliott Mickleburgh is an artist and writer based in London. His work contemplates the multiple points of congruency between consumer culture and religious devotion. XX.XX.XX — started in 2019 and ongoing to the present day — is Mickleburgh’s most recent large-scale project, a body of work that reflects on the biblical story of the Annunciation through the eclectic materials and documents that emerge during the production and representation of luxury commodities such as clothes, jewelry, and cosmetics.
Recent group exhibitions include LAS Invites at LAS Gallery and Votive at Hypha HQ, both galleries in London. Mickleburgh presented the solo exhibition XX.XX.XX (Under the Scene) in 2021 at the Salzburger Kunstverein upon winning the SpallArt Prize the previous year. His essays on contemporary art have been published both in print and online with journals such as Testudo, THE SEEN, and Notes on Metamodernism. Mickleburgh holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a minor in Visual Critical Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Master of Arts in Photography from the Royal College of Art in London.
