AA2A Resident Artist

Hyomin Huang

Schemes:

I am a ceramic artist from South Korea, currently based in Lancashire. Through my practice, I transform unseen emotions into tangible forms, using ceramics to give shape to feelings that are often overlooked or left unspoken, particularly within minority communities. By engaging with the texture, form, and materiality of clay, I translate these emotional narratives into a physical language.

Clay embodies both fragility and strength, reflecting the complexity of human emotion. The irreversible transformation it undergoes during firing serves as a metaphor for the experiences that shape personal life and identity. My work captures these moments of change, guiding audiences beyond simply “seeing” to truly “feeling.”

My artistic vision is rooted in the belief that art can act as a bridge between different emotional worlds. By enabling audiences to sensorially encounter the voices of marginalized groups through ceramic forms, I aim to create spaces where empathy and dialogue can emerge—spaces that invite connection, reflection, and understanding.
