Jasmine Key (b.1999) is a multidisciplinary artist working across sculpture, installation, printmaking, and photography.
Through a materially and conceptually engaged practice, Jasmine explores forms of escapism and world-building, examining how people navigate challenging and rapidly changing times through story telling, material culture and the natural world. Drawing on the Surrealist and Romantic art movements, the work reimagines objects and narratives to critique, and expand perceptions of reality and the ways in which we engage with the world around us.
Her on-going research explores the juxtaposition between historic and contemporary forms of escapism. Where once we escaped through books, nature, art and music now is films, internet, gaming and social media. She is also passionate about sustainable approaches and democratising the art industry through using accessible techniques such as digital rendering and environmentally friendly materials.
