Jessica is a studio potter and material researcher based in the UK. With a background in textiles and metal casting, Jessica is now primarily making thrown functional ware from her studio in Stoke-on-Trent following her recent studies at Clay College.
Her work is focused on the sensitive interaction between maker and material. Exploring the dialogue between the plastic qualities of clay and its relationship to the user, she considers the evolution of each piece as being intrinsically linked to the rituals of functional wear.
Expanding her knowledge of materials, Jessica used her time on the diploma course at Clay College to widen her historical and practical understanding of ceramics. So as to gain a strong foundation of technical skill from which she now formulates her designs and studio practise.
Jessica is originally from Devon and was first introduced to ceramics at Hollyford Pottery before going on to study Fine Art at Chelsea College of Arts London.
Her studio is based on site at Potclays Ceramics Supplies Ltd in Stoke-on-Trent in the heart of the potteries.
