I’m an artist living in York whose practice combines printmaking, sculpture, and site-specific installations. My work revolves around the use of lines, colours and geometrical patterns to investigate spatial perception and movement. Currently working on sculptural paper pieces, I want to develop a new series of screen prints in response to these explorations. This will include limited editions as well as one-off prints. I plan to experiment with multiple layers, textures and colours combinations to create dynamic and balanced compositions. The prints will illustrate the changing shapes and movements developed through folding, pleating and other manipulations.
Participating in the AA2A project will provide me with the opportunity to work on this new project, making use of printing equipment that I wouldn't have access to in my home studio. The printing process has always played a crucial role in my practice, helping me shape new ideas for sculptural pieces and installations. It acts as a bridge between two- and three-dimensional works. The support provided by York St John University will create the ideal environment for me to realise innovative pieces, both in terms of artistic concept and technical execution.
This period of research and production will enable the creation of a new body of works for future exhibitions. Building on my previous interests, I hope to strengthen the foundations of my practice while exploring new directions. Working alongside other creatives, I will gain a fresh perspective on my work while sharing studio processes and professional experiences with students, drawing from my creative journey in France, UK, Canada, and Australia. I also hope that this project may lead to future collaborations with the University, such as workshops and participatory projects.
