Zoe Slater is a ceramicist based between Glasgow and London, whose work explores the intersection of material, surface, and form. Trained in production throwing and recently graduating with an MA in Ceramics and Glass from the Royal College of Art, she combines technical precision with a process-led approach to sculptural ceramics. Zoe works primarily with dark, earthy clay bodies, developing reactive and crystalline glazes that respond unpredictably to firing, reflecting her interest in transformation, vulnerability, and decay. Drawing inspiration from plant biology and the natural environment, her forms unfold organically, inviting tactile engagement and evoking natural processes of growth and erosion. With a focus on large-scale works, Zoe experiments with surface textures and layered glazes to create pieces that balance structural control with material agency. Working from her studio in Scotland, she continues to push the boundaries of scale, technique, and expressive potential in contemporary ceramic practice.
