Annabel MacIver is a multidisciplinary artist working in print, drawing, painting and sculpture. Her work often questions the status quo, using experimentation across mediums, with exploration of materiality, mark-making and form to drive her decisionmaking. She positions her work within two strands, one more immediate, societal, and the other takes up conversations with embedded narratives, found objects or artists from the past. Recent and on-going works include: an imagined conversation with Josef Albers regarding the screen printing techniques he used; a discussion around misinformation and censorship; the reworking of a Greek Myth to a more rounded 360° view of the human condition and investigations around the decline in legal aid funding.
MacIver was born in the UK and grew up in the Middle East. She originally studied biological sciences (neuroscience), while maintaining a small art practice. However, in 2018 she graduated in Fine Art and more recently (2025) gained an MA in Print from the Royal College of Art. Annabel is also a freelance teacher for print, drawing and painting, which informs her practice.
She has exhibited in many group exhibitions including this year’s RA Summer Exhibition 2026, and held her first solo exhibition, Bird, in 2021: a lament around, sudden death, grief and legacy. Recent awards include being a runner up for the JaguarXRCA prize and she was selected to be part of the 2025 Postgraduate Printmaking in London exhibition at Clifford Chance.
