Kate Dean is a Birmingham-based printmaker and visual artist. Her practice is rooted in traditional printmaking processes, particularly relief, intaglio and letterpress. She first began printmaking as a teenager, working in her family’s letterpress print shop and learning the traditional letterpress trade. After studying Fine Art and later Media and Communications (Music Industries) at Birmingham City University, she worked in arts and cultural event management before returning to develop her own art practice in 2022. Alongside making original and commissioned work, Kate delivers printmaking workshops in traditional studio settings and through her own mobile print studio.
