Katherine James is a Leeds based artist best known for re-imagining armour through chainmail forms that shift its symbolic values. Her practice engages with contemporary discourse around gender and mental health. Working between body adornment and sculpture. Her works range from lace-like patterns to semi-melted structures & chaotic disorder. Most recently, she has been combining charcoal into her works, purposefully disrupting material hierarchies within contemporary craft processes.
