Ka Chun Chung is a Hong Kong-born, London-based artist working across painting, sculpture, installation, sound and kinetic systems. He completed an MFA Fine Art at Goldsmiths, University of London in 2025.
His practice investigates the performative potential of materials and objects, exploring how they can move beyond their intended functions and become active performers. Having initially worked with painting, his practice gradually expanded into threedimensional and kinetic forms, incorporating everyday objects, hook-and-loop material, motors, sensors and musical instrument components. Through movement, friction, sound and material resistance, his works form unstable relationships with one another, their surroundings and audiences.
His current project, Quasi Orchestra / Drama, brings individual kinetic and sonic sculptures together as a collective system in which audience movement can become part of their score. His recent research considers endurance, deterioration and partial selfdestruction: how long an object can sustain its performance, and what happens when performing gradually transforms or exhausts its material body
